By 2023, event planners will have new events and incentives playground to consider: the 125-hectare Opus Bay.
Sitting at the southern part of Batam, the mixed-use development will offer residential, retail, entertainment, healthcare and business facilities, which property developer Tuan Sing Holdings will market as a tourism and hospitality destination.
Tuan Sing Holdings, CEO, Willian Liem said in a CNA report: “We are very excited to launch Opus Bay, one of the largest integrated developments in Indonesia. We envision Opus Bay to be a smart city and an integrated community which serves as the perfect place for luxurious and affordable resort-style living for locals, expats and travellers alike.”
The entire project will take 10 to 15 years to complete, with phase one’s 51 Cluny Villas comprising three-and-four bedroom units expected to be ready by 2023. Meanwhile, a retail factory outlet is set to open by October 2022.
Designed as holiday homes, each villa will come with individual customisable pools and a gated area for privacy, a concept which Francis Ngiam, Tuan Sing’s assistant vice-president of sales reckons will mostly attract Singapore buyers, according to a Business Times report.
The township will also eventually house hotels, F&B, an entertainment hub, and Opus Club House for gatherings and events.
The township is conveniently located next to Batam’s existing Waterfront Ferry Terminal, which will be undergoing a facelift, funded by Tuan Sing Holdings. As part of an overall infrastructure upgrade by the Indonesian government to increase the island’s attraction, a link bridge is also being built between Batam and Bintan.
In related news, the “safe travel corridor” for Singaporean travellers to the Riau Islands could have a change of launch date from the initial 21 April to 1 May or 1 June, according to a 13 April press release by the deputy for strategic policy at the tourism ministry, CNA reported.
